UNDERSTANDING CELEBRITIES

Understanding celebrities Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ricky Martin and Beyoncé Knowles are joining forces to fight anti-Semitism.

They'll all tape spots for Russell Simmons' Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, Simmons' co-founder told us.

"It's an international campaign," said Rabbi Marc Schneier. "We're going into production in March, and they will air in different countries around the world."

And Kiefer Sutherland has agreed to make a public-service announcement promoting understanding of Muslims after his hit show, "24," was criticized for depicting a Muslim family as a terrorist sleeper cell.

Meanwhile, Israeli Consul Arye Mekel and several major Jewish groups got some props from Sudanese rep Mohamed Yahya, a Muslim, the other night at the launch of the Sudan Refugee Children's Education Project to help orphaned and vulnerable Sudanese children.

"All my life, I was taught that Jews are the enemy," Yahya said. "But when I came here I saw that you are a passionate, kind and supportive people."
