On January 15, 2007, people across the nation commemorated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Working alongside individuals of all ages, races, religions and backgrounds, Dr. King encouraged Americans to come together to strengthen communities, alleviate poverty, and acknowledge the dignity and equality of all human beings. During his lifetime, Dr King worked tirelessly toward the dream of equality. Each year, The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding initiates and takes part in a variety of events and programs to help keep Dr. King's dream alive. The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding compiled and
published its fifth Annual MLK day commemorative awareness advertisement
in partnership with United Jewish Appeal - Federation of New York and
the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York. The program involved
compiling listings of MLK day lectures, concerts and film screenings from
various synagogues, Jewish cultural and community institutions, day schools,
elder care facilities and Jewish community centers in the New York metropolitan
area, and placing full-page ads in major ethnic newspapers. This year
the ad appeared in the Forward, Jewish Week, Jewish Press, and the Amsterdam
News.
