The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding Co-Sponsors Forum -
"Legislative Responses to Anti-Semitism"

The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, in conjunction with the World Jewish Congress, the Institute on Religion and Public Policy and NCSJ: Advocates on behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia co-sponsored a roundtable forum, “Legislative Responses to Anti-Semitism” in Washington, DC on July 3rd, 2005. Congressman Alcee Hastings, the 2004 Congressional Racial Harmony honoree and president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and the Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) opened the forum. The 50 forum participants included parliamentarians from 13 countries, diplomats and several non-governmental activists.

The discussion was co-chaired by Representative Chris Smith (R-New Jersey), Co-Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commision and Professor Gert Weisskirchen of the German Bundestag and who also serves as Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Anti-Semitism.
