On Wednesday, December 12, Rabbi Marc Schneier and Russell Simmons presented the 2007 Joseph Papp Racial Harmony Awards to: Leon H. Charney, Moderator and Host of television's The Leon Charney Report, John B. Rhea, Managing Director & Co-Head of Global Consumer/Retail Group in the Investment Banking Division at Lehman Brothers, Inc., and George L. Van Amson, Managing Director of Institutional Sales and Trading at Morgan Stanley. The benefit reception celebrated the recent first National summit of Imams and Rabbis together with The Foundation's ongoing Jewish-Muslim outreach. Over 150 guests attended the benefit which was held at Helen Yarmak International. Guests included Imam Omar Abu-Namous, Chief Cleric of the Islamic Cultural Center of New York, Dr. Habeeb Ahmed, President of the Islamic Cultural Center of Long Island, and key members of The Foundation's Board of Directors, Ken Sunshine, Michael Heningburg Jr. and David Renzer, who celebrated the accomplishments and efforts of their friends and colleagues. This event is held annually to benefit the many programs of The Foundation.
