Stevie Wonder Joins The Foundation To Launch National Campaign On Ethnic Tolerance

World-renowned recording artist, Stevie Wonder and Music impresario, Russell Simmons, will join with The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding to launch a landmark national campaign to promote ethnic tolerance and combat the outbreak of ethnic profiling in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks upon our nation. The campaign will be a comprehensive initiative, using public service announcements and published materials to appeal to Americans to recognize the strength that comes from sharing our similarities and differences.  The published materials will consist of a specially developed curriculum/teacher's guide on ethnic tolerance for high school students across the nation: and a pamphlet on how to promote tolerance that can be used by community leaders, civic groups, political clubs, rotary clubs, etc.

The nationally televised public service announcement will feature Russell Simmons, Foundation President Rabbi Marc Schneier, and young students from a variety of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.  The PSA will show, at its conclusion, a toll-free number and The Foundation's website address for viewers to obtain the guides and/or the pamphlets.  It will air on Time Warner Cable (CNN, TBS, TNT, Lifetime, VH1, MTV, ESPN) and on ABC national network.

The Foundation's research staff and a team of scholars and experts from New York University's Department of Applied Psychology are producing the special curriculum/teacher's guide and pamphlet.  The guide is intended for use in high school classrooms for a one to two week period, and will adhere to New York and California State teaching standards.  The Foundation will rely on its extensive relations with Congressional leaders, their distinct staffs, and local school boards to distribute the guides and pamphlets to high schools, community groups, and other interested organizations from around the country.

"The national campaign is perhaps one of the most important undertakings in the history of this organization", said Rabbi Marc Schneier, President of the Foundation.  "It's origins are a direct outgrowth of the founding principles of FFEU, with a purpose further galvanized by the tragic event of the recent terrorist attacks on our nation", he said.
